Are you living your dream?
There's a series of questions I stumbled across that I've been asking myself on a regular basis recently.
They came up on one of my daily morning runs (see my mile each day blog) and they're based on the theory that each new day is a gift, because it's the only day that we're guaranteed.
The questions are:
What is the gift that's available to me today?
What is the opportunity for me to learn something new today?
What is the opportunity for me to make a contribution today?
This is what I learned today and this blog post is my contribution.
Ever since I started my coach training ten years ago, one of the first questions that I was asked, and that I was directed to ask, was "what is your dream?"
Although a question about dreams is often considered soft and fluffy, and non "businessy", the more I learn, the more I realise that the most important question most people really need to be asked, whether they are senior corporate executives, entrepreneurs, school teachers or coaches is "Are you living your dream?"
Why do I say this?
Because this is the question you are most likely to ask yourself eventually, whether that be "Did I live my dream?" on your death bed, or hopefully at some point (in the present tense) between now and then.
If the answer is no then it's time to take a serious look at why not, and what you could do to change this.
If the answer is yes, maybe it's time to upgrade your dream?
